Whao there Bryan, I sense lots of hostility.
Perhaps it's because of my lack of respect towards animals? Or life in general? You were right when you said "Mark obviously has no love for pets, or animals in general I'll bet, because they don't deserve it", however, you were mistaken when you said I think only people deserve to be loved. I think no one, nothing, deserves love. That is something that has to be 'earned', though it cannot really be earned either. If you love your cat, then by all means care for it. I believe I have mentioned before something to the effect of life not being worth living till one finds something for dying for. Be that thing an animal, a human, property or some sort of moral/religious belief. I do not personally understand why people fight for animal rights, because I do not like animals. To me, just as cow makes good meat, mink makes good clothes.
Further more, contrary to your belief, I do have a respect for life. If it was a baby carriage in front of my car, I would probably swerve out of the way, hopefully not into a pole, and hopefully not smashing my head. The same way I deem that life important enough to endanger my own, you deem the animal's life important enough to endanger your own. The same way an art aficionado would swerve away from an abandoned Picasso on the road. Everyone has different standards.
As for men conquering and destroying nature, that really sucks. Are you aware that at present rates of consumption, and if we doubled the world's known oil reserves, we would still run out in about 50 years or so? Are you going to stop driving? Are you going to call for the government to increase the prices of gas and cars because they cause so much harm to the environment? Will you turn off the heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer? Just as beavers build dams, men build cities. The only way I see the world being 'saved' is if men go back to living as cavemen, somewhere in the middle of the food chain. Now are you willing to accept that kind of lifestyle? I do not think the majority of the world's population is, partly because much more than half of them would have to die. And even if you were willing, Bryan, that would mean having to give up that wild animal you call a pet and have kept captive, because "nature that isn't ours to conquer".
But then, politics and such serious matters such as life tend to bore me. I do not really enjoy confrontations too. Therefore, in an effort to ease tensions, here is something that I really would not mind loving. Notice I chose one with a little something special for you Bryan. :) And let no lady claim I am sexist. Here's a little something for all you females out there too! Now aren't they both just absolutely gorgeous?
