The last time I can recall going to a theater was the time CATS came to Singapore. Between then and now, it has pretty much been movies and television all the way for me.
Watched Arcadia today, was actually pretty good! Though I must confess I wasn't really looking forward to watching a play, I actually really enjoyed myself! Feel kind of inspired to watch something on Broadway when I go to New York in a weeks time! Yay! haha...
Found the play a little hard to follow here and there, I suppose reading the book and having a rough grasp of the play would have made it much easier to enjoy, but overall, it was really funny and well acted out. Out of 10 brownie points,I give it a 8.5 (9 if the 2 cute (from where I was sitting) actresses and their accents are taken into consideration). I took home 2 major points from this play. One, as Bernard Nightingale realized, assumption is the mother of all fuck ups. Two, as displayed by Thomasina, cute girls can be smart too. Oh, and that you cannot unstir things. Something to think about, if there is an afterlife, and we meet everyone there, what's the use of the pursuit of knowledge now? I think I just found my new philosophy on life, too bad the magnum opus is up already! haha
Thankfully Mr Lovas was there to explain a little during the intermition, firstly, that Lord Byron was not a physical character in the play, and neither was the whore Mrs Ch[e]ater.
It's so sad that the little girl died in the end. She would have aged real well. Kind of poetic her taking her last waltz. Moral of the story? Kids, don't play with fire.
For those unable to make it today, you guys really should catch it! Felt great to have some what of a semi-social life even if only for one night. I feel inspired, not exactly certain to do what, but inspired none the less!
