"Got a 1410 for SAT I, 800 for both my Math IIC and physics on SAT II, but got a 540 for my SAT II writing (which i think really screws me up) Got 3 As and a B for my GCE A'level (british system)." - Qin.
After reading this I must say I really really worry for myself. 3 As and a B for the A level system is really no joke! That's the stuff of scholars. Not to mention a 1410 on the SATs which I think is pretty damn good. I would honestly be pretty damn satisfied with a 1410 on my SATs when I take it. And after achieving all these results still getting rejected by universities must be pretty damn shitty.
It is news like this that makes me miss the Singapore schooling system. Where there is a cut off point for grades, and as long as you achieve the required minimum grade, you're in no questions asked. Makes life alot more simple, though it might not be the best system since alot of emphasis is placed on grades and little on anything else.
Since I have come here I worry that I am not doing enough, just studying and doing well for my classes. I wonder if I should be doing more community service and joining more clubs to boost my future applications.
Another major worry for me is that I am currently at the mercy of my government. Should my results start to slip, I can be called back anytime and forced to halt my education and serve the army for 2 1/2 years. After which I would have probably lost all motivation to learn.
All this talk about results is stressing me out. Time to study for the 2 exams in the coming week. ... ... ...
