You really do learn something new everyday

Over this past weekend, I learned a new word.  We talked about a wigger from Kash's livejournal entry.  New word is chigger.  No.... it's not a chinaman(appropriate because i'm chinese) acting african-american.  A chigger is a minute, six-legged, reddish larva of the harvest mite, one of various red bugs widely distributed throughout the world and common in the S United States. Attaching itself by its mouthparts to the skin of its vertebrate host, the chigger injects saliva that destroys cells and may cause an intense irritation known as red-bug dermatitis. The food of the chigger consists of the cellular contents and tissue fluid of the host.  I came upon this word because some friends at my church are going to a mission trip at Missouri where there are a lot of chiggers.

I'm sure you saw me say "chinaman."  It is appropriate for me to say it because i am Chinese.  If someone from a different ethnicity said it, it will be considered a racial slur.  For example, during my senior year in high school, we had to made group names for our economics group project.  One of my friends, who's chinese, wanted to call his group "Chink Inc."  I cracked up because well, we're making fun of own race.  But our economics teacher wouldn't allow that name for understandable reasons.  When we told our spanish teacher about it, she laughed at the name and also said that the name is appropriate because we were making fun or ourself.  So please don't get offended.
