Posted by Qin Chan, 3/3/04 at 2:16:14 PM. Since i have been trying to determine when and how Hemingway's short precise writing style was developed. I looked into his first job as a reporter at kansas star newspaper. I tried to find his first article which he wrote at the newspaper or maybe find some related writings which were writtern by him. I went to The Kansas City Star website, and they had a huge achive of all the newspapers articles and magazines they every published in the last century. There was a dedicated webpage publicising Ernest Hemingway starting his career as a writer at Kansas City Star.

The new source of information I have found interesting and potentially rewarding if i look deeper is the microfilm of periodicals or magazines. I hope to find an early work of Ernest Hemingway and work from there. I am looking at how Hemingway developed his short sentence, short paragraph writing style.

Another potentially rewarding source would be the thick books about writers in the 20th century or about ficition writers. Since this is a research paper, it would involve lots of criticisim and analysis, I would need to read up on other critic's comments before forming my own opinion of his writings.
